    2018

Labor And Management Public Affairs Committee

    (L.A.M.P.A.C.)

    **Update**

Brothers and Sisters of Local Union 682

I want to let you know that System Council U8, of which Local 682 is a part of, recently informed Duke Energy that we will not be attending or participating in the 2018 L.A.M.P.A.C.

We, the members of the System Committee, do not feel that our relationship with Duke Energy is where it needs to be for us to stand on a stage together arm in arm.

For those that are unfamiliar, LAMPAC is an annual event where the leaders from the IBEW and energy company executives come together to advance the common objectives of the electric power industry and IBEW members.

For the 2018 Southeast region Duke Energy will be hosting the event in the Orlando, Florida area. Normally LAMPAC is broken down by region (Southeast, Midwest, etc) and there are typically individual regional meetings, but this year is designed to be a combined LAMPAC that encompasses the several regions that Duke Energy has a footprint in.

A good relationship is critical for the success of both the I.B.E.W. members as well as Duke Energy and we will always work toward that end. But a good relationship is also supposed to work well for both sides involved and it feels very one sided right now.

Please attend the next Union Meeting for more information.

    In Solidarity,

    Jason Wilson
    Business Manager/Financial Secretary
